OFF THE CHARTS
It’s hard to go with the flow if you can’t see where projects are
At Olive Development, flowcharts had to be manually adjusted
if any project information changed. That often meant a lot of
time was spent updating the workflow sequence, which slowed
down the design process.
For the past three years, the Web development firm relied on
SmartDraw software for website schematics, wire framing and
site mapping. And with the 2009 version, the company gained
increased transparency, says Chip Pappas, principal of Olive
Development, and head of development and information
The new version makes automatic readjustments, allowing
team members to see what must be done almost immediately.
And the company is seeing the payoff as it works on one of its
more complicated projects.
“We’re working on a site
that, so far, is 55 pages long

Users can now break the company’s projects down into tasks,
which can then be assigned and tracked. All the active tasks are
explained and outlined in a shared workspace.
“The system lets us update tasks as we exchange e-mails
throughout the day, and by the next morning, everyone is alerted
and on track via their daily e-mail to-do lists from Wrike,” Ms.
“The main benefits for us are energized communication and
control. Tasks are clearly defined, including deadline dates. This
helps to maintain time management and organize a team member’s

Wrike helps us to quickly tweak tasks and projects, and bring
everyone in the loop automatically.”
