Syngenta needed a better method for planning inspections of the large storage vessels for its
herbicides and seed treatments.
“Any missed steps in an inspection process causes inefficiencies, and inefficiencies cost
money,” says Don Latiolais, Syngenta’s mechanical integrity manager.
To remedy the situation, Syngenta decided to use e TaskMaker. The software breaks down all
the steps and components needed to get the project done and then designates team members to
complete each task.
In addition, e TaskMaker created an archive of Syngenta’s most commonly used processes, so
inspectors and estimators could easily look up the steps required to complete their tasks.
By taking the guesswork out of the process, the software has helped the company cut
instances of inefficiency and error. And because process research was no longer needed, estimation
time was slashed by 75 percent.
“Inefficiencies are always an issue,” Mr. Latiolais says. “But we’re always striving for
continuous improvement. And anytime we can improve our efficiencies through software,
that’s the route we continue to take.”
ON THE RIGHT TRACK
With demand building for its sustainable structures,
Hammond Fine Homes needed a scheduling tool to help its
staff manage project goals and timelines.
