IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, the
recession appears to be over (or at
least winding down)—and IT jobs
are making a comeback.
“Since June, the economy has
been rebounding. And IT is already
seeing some turnaround,” says John
Challenger, CEO of Challenger,
Gray & Christmas Inc., a global out-placement firm based in Chicago,
Illinois, USA.
IT markets are strong in China,
India and Brazil, he says. And jobs are
even picking up in the United States,
which has been slogging through the
worst job bust in recent history.
IT recruiter Susan Cheedle also
sees interest on the rise among U.S.
employers.
“We’ve seen a pick-up—particularly
in project management IT positions—
since June,” says Ms. Cheedle,
district president of Robert Half
Technologies, an IT staffing consultancy in Denver, Colorado, USA.
“It’s not a huge pick-up, but IT is
definitely faring better than other
professions.” >>
